My Teaching Philosophy Statement Education is defined as the lifelong process of acquiring knowledge, skills, and values through either formal means, such as schooling, or informal means, such as firsthand experiences or vicarious experiences gained through reading books or discussions. Every person that is or wants to be a teacher has his or her own educational philosophy. We all have our own views, methods, and curriculum that we were taught when growing up. A lot of people may have the same teachers in school, but all of them learn different things from that teacher. As of right now, wanting to be a teacher, I do not have a set philosophy. I do know that I want to teach physical education. If the teachers and principals would give spankings or put students in time-out, in-school suspension, or after school detention then I think that students would behave better. For example, if there is a child in the first grade and they push another student then the child should be put in time-out and not allowed to have recess. Children at this young of age will not like missing out on the fun stuff so they will probably think the next time before pushing or doing something else to another student. They will remember what happened the first time they did something wrong and probably would not do it again. In today’s society it is nearly impossible to survive without an education. It is important that we have the right kind of teachers to accomplish certain goals. A good teacher is one who listens to their students and tries to answer any questions they might have about anything. I think that a good teacher should also be able to listen to others opinions and not argue with them but try to understand their point of view on the subject. Teachers have to earn respect, I think, it cannot be demanded by them just because they want it. Another thing is that teachers should show love.
